Evan's 5th Birthday

We celebrated Evan's birthday week in style, as usual. We took his friends Drew, Austin, Drake, Charlie and Will to the Iowa Energy basketball game last weekend. The boys loved it!

Grandpa Steve and Grandma Kate stopped by on Sunday to celebrate with a new baseball bat and Cherry Berry! And they couldn't resist a second stop on Monday night to say hi.

On his actual birthday Nick and I took him to Fong's Pizza for lunch.

Then Grandpa Dave, Grandma Lois, Uncle Eric, Aunt Susan and Aunt Erin, along with cousins Brecken and Bria came for dinner.

I can't believe he is five - I feel like now he really isn't a toddler or little kid anymore. But a sweet, smart, kind, funny kid who will be going to kindergarten in four short months.

I looked and Evan was helping Wyatt ride his bike. Without asking him to help he just does things like this, melts my heart.

Third time around

We are excited to announce the Varcoe's are going to have another baby! We are due September 19 and we told our friends and co-workers yesterday. The boys got to tell their teachers at school and they are beyond excited.

Evan gets the concept of baby will be here when he goes to kindergarten, while Wyatt wants to know why baby isn't here yet. I just tell him baby needs to cook some more - he says, "I cook too." Yes little buddy you cooked too.

At our appointment yesterday (13 weeks 3 days) the heartbeat was 142, compared to 188 and 162 for Evan and Wyatt. Maybe we will have a laid back, calm little one - but what would be the fun in that?!

We couldn't be more excited about being a family or 5, or 6 if you ask Evan - because Lou is a part of our family:)

Over the cold

We have been busy with snow and cold - just kidding we are ready to be outside and busy with Spring activities. 

Evan got a new bed and Yankee sheets which he is pumped about!

We have been having fun swimming and playing basketball in January.  Evan is doing great at swimming and really improving. Best back floater!

Evan started playing basketball through the Y and is loving it. He is so good with the other kids and hasn't lost his aggressiveness:)
