First Day of School

Evan started Kindergarten yesterday, August 13, 2014. And as predicted he did awesome! He was so excited and the best part was he was excited to do it again today.

However I have to include the last day of daycare with our beloved Annie.

Walking out of daycare for the last time
Nicholas, Owen and Evan - these kiddos have known each other since birth pretty much.
There he goes!
Evan and Lucy waiting to go in
Owen, Aubrey and Evan walking into school together - this trio have grown up together and can't wait to watch them grow even more.

Riding in style on his second day of school with Dad
Can't believe he is really old enough for school. I know he is ready, but the fact that he is old enough is crazy. I'm so proud of him and excited for him it really eases any anxiety I had at all. He makes this transition a breeze and coming from the early days where transitions were weeks long and hard, full of tears, I couldn't be more proud of him.

Go get 'em my little Nemo!

Nick and Amy

5 weeks to go

We checked in on baby today and all is great with baby. Baby is about 4lbs and the size of a pineapple. I feel slow, slug-like and my energy is zapped, but honestly I told myself with this pregnancy, it is the last time so just "enjoy" what you can. I am not one of those women who likes being pregnant so I do allow myself to complain, but only a little. There are women who would give anything to be a mom and feel a little one growing inside them and I've been blessed to do it three times. So my complaints are small in comparison to what others, some being my closest friends, have gone through.

Baby's heart rate was 131 - the lowest by far of the three kiddos. Evan was 145 and Wyatt was 148 at this stage. We have one laid back baby so far, and I really really hope that is the case on the outside too.

We made our annual trip to the State Fair and Adel Sweet Corn Festival.

Let's go find a treat!

And this is how we ended, slushie in hand, asleep:) So sweet...

Giant Slide

Nick made a day trip to Iowa City to see the Varcoes and ride on a pontoon, all while mom stayed home by herself. Not sure the last time I was in our house alone all day.

Such concentration
Two Captains of a kind:)
Healthy snacks on the way home with dad
"Playing" with Lou - How this cat lets him do what they do is beyond me. Covered with Evan's blanket and pushing his head through the spindles.

Testing out the baby chair - I think it will work!
Look familiar?!
I will do another blog with Evan's big school day coming up - too much to write about!

Summer fun days

As big changes are fast approaching the Varcoe family, we are still enjoying our play time. Evan starts kindergarten in one week, Wyatt moved to a big boy bed and baby is due in 6 weeks!

We were downtown waiting to go to a baseball game, so we went to the sculpture park and rolled down the hills. Probably not what the artists thought of when they were making their art, but it is what boys do.

Superman!

Evan painting pottery at Estelle's birthday party. He made a dog for Nick's birthday.
This kid can golf
He can hit better than his dad could 10 years ago:)
I have been telling the boys I would take them up to the helipad to see the helicopter before Evan went to school and we got to do that last week. Wyatt, Evan, Mason and Bailey all came with us.

Evan at SkyZone for Bennett's birthday party. He loved it so much - dodge ball!
Wyatt at the mall with Rachel on her last day.
Wyatt and Brecken playing at the mall.
In other big news - Wyatt is in his big boy bed!! He did so well, told us to take down the crib and hasn't looked back since.

Potty time outside, with a helmet on. Why not??
Playdoh fun at school.
Big boy bed with buddy Lou making himself comfy. You can barely see Wyatt. However Lou's diet is going well and has lost over one pound:)
Baby is doing well, we have another appointment next week to check in.

Evan got his teacher letter yesterday and got Mrs. McCue. He starts in one week and I can't believe his last day at daycare is tomorrow. Doesn't seem possible my little buddy for 5 years has been with me almost every day won't be chatting my ear off anymore. But I know he will learn so much and will LOVE school. I wish I could be in the corner to hear and see him in his new environment.

Love,
Nick, Amy, Evan, Wyatt, Tre and Lou
